Mid-America
brokered the sale of three construction material businesses during
the past six months.
-
Liter's Big Bend Quarry
- Sale of the Ohio River Quarry closed October 2004. The sale
included an operating quarry, river dock and more than 100 million
tons of limestone reserves. This Kentucky operation was permitted
for an annual production rate of 3 million tons. Its customer
base stretched as far as Pittsburgh, PA and Charleston, West Virginia.
Testimonial:
"I
am very pleased with Mid-America's performance. As you know,
we had previously retained a large domestic bank to sell the
quarry. They were unsuccessful. Mid-America succeeded in selling
our quarry at a good price. I recognize that your industry knowledge
and hard work made the sale possible."
Bob Liter, President, Liters Inc.
- Valstad
Quarry Inc.
- Sale of Illinois aggregates producer closed April 2005. The
sale included two quarries located in the St. Louis Metro East
market. Also included were an idled quarry and more than 100 million
tons of limestone reserves. This family owned business had operated
for more than 60 years.
"Our
family business was in its second generation and deciding to
sell was a very difficult decision. Mr. Nowobilski worked very
closely with our board, and made it much easier to make the
decision. I'm very happy with the process as the process was
kept confidential, and I feel that we received a fair sales
price." Harold Valstad, President, Valstad Quarries
- Smasal
Aggregates - Sale of this Missouri based company closed
April 2005. The sale of this vertically integrated business included
two quarries, an asphalt batch plant, laydown equipment, and more
than 30 million tons of limestone reserves.
Testimonial:
"I tried to sell the business before, but we never were
able to finalize terms and close a transaction. You and your
firm put forth a lot of effort in devising and executing the
marketing campaign. I am convinced that your efforts combined
with your expertise and industry knowledge made the sale possible.
I am very pleased with Mid-America's performance." Mike
Smasal, President, Smasal Aggregates
